How to wear a combat shirt: A simple guide

Even for the most intelligent of us, we can become a bit confused when it comes to the wear of your new combat shirt or uniform. So how do we address the wear of our combat shirt or uniform correctly?

To wear a combat shirt correctly, you must first wear the combat shirt inside out for at least three days to allow it to form to your body. It should be slightly small and tight against your body as you wear it with your combat vest and mags underneath.

But wait, how does such a process work? What exactly is an army combat shirt, and what effect does following these steps have on a combat shirt or uniform?

However, you may not have understood just what it was that they were talking about. So, this begs the questions, what exactly is an Army combat shirt? And why do we have them?

Answer: An ACS, otherwise known as an Army Combat Shirt, is a flame resistant shirt that was carefully developed by the Army of the United States Military. It was meant to be an addition of a more supporting or supplementary nature in conjunction with the ACU, or Army Combat Uniform.

Something to consider: As a member of the U.S. Military, having a flame resistant shirt can be vital to your protection. Many unexpected incidences will commonly occur. You never know what sort of dangerous situation may arise and come your way. So pay attention always, and be prepared with what is provided to you.

Warning: Fire resistance does not always mean that it is completely safe against what can cause damage. The danger of fire is still a prevalent possibility and can cause severe damage, particularly to places that are not carefully covered in flame-resistant materials.

Fun Fact: The ACS, or Army Combat Shirt, was carefully and tactfully designed as a stand alone shirt specifically made for a support or supplementary conjunction with the IOTV, otherwise know as the Improved Outer Tactical Vest, Armor to be used in hot or warm weather.

Important know how: The use of these lightweight, moisture-wicking, and breathable fabrics, allows for us to be far more comfortable throughout the duration and occurrence of its daily use.

For your information: Having your combat shirt be lightweight, or rather, having any part of your uniform being more light weight can be vital throughout your service. The Art Of Manliness; How and When

When you are wearing your combat shirt, it is a probable occurrence that you need to wear your combat shirt with great respect. And in order to give off that sense for those who are in the U.S. Military, you need to follow the basics of keeping everything clean and immaculate in the way that you wear your uniform.

There is something immaculate in the way that your shirt is tucked in. There should be no obvious or visible lines from where it is tucked in, nor should it be entirely obvious that it has yet to be tucked in at all were it not to be long enough on either side.

For Your Information: If the combat shirt that you have is made with a flat bottom line or edge, then it is most likely not meant to be tucked in to your uniform

Important Know How: If the combat shirt that his been given to you has any visual evidence of a “Shirt tale” or any ends that make and obvious bulge, line, or causes the line of the shirt to stick out, then it must absolutely be tucked in.

When tucking in your shirt, the front of your body should appear to be smooth and flat. You must avoid any wrinkling or visual puffiness where the shirt sticks out over the tops of your pants.

Tip: It should appear to have almost no visible evidence of having a shirt bulge or end bump in your shirt whether tucked in or not.

Making your combat shirt “Moist” effective

The combat shirt that you have should be a size smaller than your normal size as it will stretch out to more tightly and comfortably fit to your body shape. This is possible by wearing your form fitting combat shirt inside out for at least the first three days to allow it to stretch comfortably to the form and shape of your body.

Doing this will bring about the “moist” effect. Which means that your shirt will be able to brush away the sweat and protect you from getting a little too sweaty throughout those hard working days.

Important to remember: You must remember that you also have to wear your combat vests with your mags below your combat shirt as well for the necessary protection. It will be a snug fit.
